The project aims to conduct field reconnaissance on 7 tributary rivers to the Skeena Watershed, Terrace to Prince Rupert, BC. Using an office-based methodology review and recent cost estimates, the goal is to survey 7 watersheds, identifying locations and suitable methods for measuring stream discharge velocity. This initial phase establishes a 5-year monitoring program for "grade A data," aiding Metlakatla in planning water needs for community services and economic development. The data also contributes to understanding climate change and resource impacts, supporting Metlakatla's Cumulative Effects Management for lasting, community-centric decisions.
