This project is helping advance the wellbeing and rebuilding of sockeye salmon popluations through Wet'suwet'en led stewardship and monitoring programs. This includes priorities that were identified in the 'Wet'suwet'en Rebuilding Plan' for sockeye salmon, such as implementing a juvenile salmon monitoring program, increasing monitoring of spawning grounds, and an assessment of habitat quality for the restoration of a sockeye spawning river. The project also create local and meaningful jobs for community members, through the employment of Wet'suwet'en fisheries technicians and other stewardship roles.
