The "Water for the Sun: Bringing Beaver & Water Back to Sun Creek" project is restoring riparian habitat, while also bringing back healthy populations of beaver and ?Askisq'nuk cultural values into the watershed. Specifically, this project is restoring up to 20 hectares of wetlands and riparian habitat heavily impacted by cattle grazing, as well as monitoring revegetation, hydroperiod and wildlife use. It will also restore flow that was diverted away from a wetland area in 2021. The project is engaging local leadership, elders, youth and land guardians to support the project, including restoring a culturally appropriate name and ceremony to welcome back the beaver.
